Way on foot: Santiago de Compostela-Finisterre / Muxia

From practically the discovery of the Sepulcher of the Apostle Santiago (S.IX) Many pilgrims, once arrived in Santiago decided to extend their Camino to the Costa da Morte.

They continued to Fisterra where it was thought that the earth ended; and then to Muxia, direct to the Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca.

Itinerary Camino Finisterre (7 days-6 nights-5 stages)

Day 1: Arrival in Santiago de Compostela. Accommodation.
Day 2: Santiago de Compostela-Negreira Stage (22 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 5h 30m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Relatively easy stage, it only has one section of slope, the climb to Sea of Ovellas.

It leaves the Plaza del Obradoiro. We will find the fabulous medieval bridge of Pontemaceiras, on the river Tambre and the Pazos de A Chancela and Cotón, as the most representative monuments of the stage.

Arrival to Negreira. End of the stage.

Day 3: Stage Negreira-Maroñas (19.81 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 5h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Throughout the district of A Barcala, and through mountainous terrains repopulated with oak and chestnut trees, part of this stage takes place. By old runners and paths we will reach Portocamino Y Vilaserio, respectively.

For a broad plateau, in Land of Xallas, we went to Cornado and Maroñas.

Arrival in Maroñas. End of the stage.

Day 4: Stage Maroñas-Olveiroa (13.34 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 3h 15m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Our steps pass through small cattle villages. We will meet with him Monte Aro, and the beautiful views over the Fervenza Reservoir, to descend then to the Xallas, until reaching Olveiroa.

Arrival in Olveiroa. End of the stage.

Day 5: Olveiroa-Cee Stage (17.9 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 4h 30m

Short stage, to enjoy our first contact with the sea in Cee.

After a first section of ascent, to Hospital, we continue our march, where we will meet successively with the hermitages of NOur Lady of the Snows and San Pedro Martir, with their respective holy sources. Views over Cape Finisterre and the famous Monte Pindo.

Arrival in Cee. End of the stage.

Day 6: Stage Cee-Finisterre (15.2 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 3h 45m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

We go through Corcubión, declared fishing village Historic Artistic Set.

Next, always close to the sea, the beaches of Estorde, Sardiñeiro, with the beach as a temptation, and before reaching the Heel Cove, a spectacular viewpoint, reveals the grandeur of these places.

Through the beach of Langosteira, let's enter, finally, in Fisterra.

Arrival in Finisterre. End of the road.

Day 7: Breakfast-End of our services


Stage Finisterre-Muxia (28.76 Kms)

Magnificent stage, very close to the coast of the Costa de la Morte, and culminating in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Barca, in Muxia, place of pilgrimage and legend, where the Virgin Mary appeared to the apostle Santiago, on a boat of stone and where we will find the "remains of it in stone form"


For those people with little physical preparation or who prefer to perform the stage more calmly and relaxed, It would be advisable to divide the stage in two days:

- Stage: Finisterre - Lires (14 Kms)

- Stage: Lires - Muxia (14.76 Kms)
