Camino de Santiago from Logroño to Burgos

The Camino de Santiago from Logroño, through the Riojana region does not have many kilometers, but the cities through which it runs have great Jacobean meaning in our French Way.

Stages along the Riojan plains, marked by farmland and its famous vineyards, which find a remarkable orographic change in the Montes de Oca, near Burgos.

Camino de Santiago itinerary from Logroño (7 days-6 nights-5 stages)

Day 1: Arrival in Logroño. Accommodation.
Day 2: Logroño – Najera Stage (29,70 km)
Difficulty: Medium Duration: 7h 30m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Long stage, but flat, almost entirely. The abundance of land cultivated with vines, will accompany us in much of the route.

The Parque de la Grajera, with its reservoir, at the exit of Logroño, the ruins of the old Hospital of San Juan de Acre, at the entrance of Navarrete and Ventosa, are the main highlights of this stage.

We cannot stop visiting the Monastery of Santa María la Real de Nájera.

Arrival in Nájera. End of the stage Accommodation.

Day 3: Stage Najera-Santo Domingo de la Calzada (21,90 kms)
Difficulty: Easy Duration: 5h 30m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Totally flat stage that runs along wide dirt tracks, part by asphalt and close to cereal crops, and vineyard areas.

Azofra and Cirueña, are the main population centers, before reaching our destination, in Santo Domingo de la Calzada.

We mention as a prominent place the visit to the Cathedral of Santo Domingo de la Calzada "where according to legend the hen sang after roasting" and the Casa del Santo.

Arrival in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. End of the stage Accommodation.

Day 4: Santo Domingo de la Calzada-Belorado stage (22,97 kms)
Difficulty: Easy Duration: 5h 45m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Stage very similar to the previous one, in which we will walk along tracks of compact earth, in many cases parallel to the road.

The towns of Grañón, Redecilla del Camino, in whose parish church there is a fabulous Romanesque baptismal font, and Viloria de Rioja, are the main towns that we will meet until arriving in Belorado.

Arrival in Belorado. End of the stage Accommodation.

Day 5: Belorado Stage – San Juan de Ortega (24,29 kms)
Difficulty: Medium Duration: 6h 30m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Stage similar to the previous ones, in the first part of the Camino, until the arrival at Villafranca de Montes de Oca, from where we will begin the ascent and passage of the mythical Montes de Oca, indicated in numerous ancient Jacobean texts, being the most interesting part of this whole stage.

Tosantos, and the aforementioned Villafranca de Montes de Oca, are the main population centers of the stage.

It is essential to visit the Monastery of San Juan de Ortega, inside which, the Capital of the Annunciation stands out.

Arrival to San Juan de Ortega. End of the stage Accommodation.

Day 6: Stage San Juan de Ortega – Burgos (26,40 km)
Difficulty: Easy Duration: 7h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Pleasant stage in its first part, passing through quiet areas of moorland and roads and roads very little traveled, until we reach the gates of Burgos, in Villafria, where we will enter, through its industrial estate.

Agés and Atapuerca, are the main population centers until our end of the stage, in Burgos. If you have an extra day, you could come and visit the famous Atapuerca Archaeological Site as you pass through that town.

Arrival to Burgos. End of the stage. Accommodation. If you have more days you can extend your Camino de Santiago from Burgos.

Day 7: Breakfast-End of our services

The accommodations we offer our clients are of high quality and all the rooms are private and have their own exclusive bathroom, as well as the necessary services for your comfort. All establishments have been supervised and selected by Viajes Mundiplus, based on the satisfaction expressed by our clients over the years. On our routes, we never offer Hostels.

As they are free choice dates in which they can make the Camino, and when dealing with accommodations with limited capacity, the exact name of them will be provided once they have made the firm reservation of their trip, and verified their availability.
