Way on foot: Gijón-Ribadeo

Route that starts its journey in the bella Gijón with its magnificent beach of San Lorenzo and that runs, to a large extent, parallel to the Cantabrian Sea, dotted by beautiful coastal towns such as Pitu (Cudillero), Navia, Luarca, Tapia de Casariego and, with a spectacular final in Ribadeo, overlooking the river that gives its name to the town. Beautiful Casonas de Indianos, we will meet in many places along the route.

Any route can be planned both for individuals traveling alone, and for large groups or families.

Itinerary by stages (9 days-8 nights- 7 stages)

Day 1: Arrival in Gijón. Accommodation.
Day 2: Stage Gijón-Avilés (24,6 kms)
Difficulty: Medium Duration: 6h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Stage that crosses industrial zones, with enough asphalt. The only difficulty of the stage will be the rise to Monte Areo (Technology and industrial park)

The stage passes through the towns of Pavierno-Santa Eulalia (Carreño) -Zancornio-Tabaza-Trasona, before arriving in Avilés.

We highlight in the stage, the Church of Santa Eulalia, Carreño and the old town of Avilés.

Day 3: Stage Avilés-El Pitu (26,9 kms)
Difficulty: Medium Duration: 6h 30m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Stage that runs with a stretch of quite asphalt and constant unevenness, up and down. Areas of eucalyptus forests and the passage of the Nalón River, will meet us on the route.

The cultural gem of the stage is the Castle of San Martin, in Soto del Barco, Palace of Valdecarzana and Vallehermoso, in Walls of Nalon.

At Pitu, we highlight the Palace of Selgas and the Church of Jesus of Nazareno.

A must visit Cudillero, which is 1.5 Kms, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.

Day 4: Stage El Pitu- Soto de Luiña (10.5 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 2h 30m

Short stage Eminently rural area with frequent unevenness, walking in areas very close to the N-632 and the A-8.

In Soto de Luiña, the most significant monument is the Church of Santa María.

Day 5: Soto de Luiña-Cadavedo Stage (22 Kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 5h 30m

Stage in which we leave behind the main population centers and walk very close to the N-632, by the Camino Real de las Ballotas, very close to the coast, which makes it a stage of great beauty, due to the proximity to the sea and numerous small beaches, with constant drops and climbs.

We highlight the Beach of Silence, between Ballota and Tablizo, as well as Ermita de la Regalina, in the vicinity of Cadavedo, as more interesting places to visit.

Arrival in Cadavedo. End of the stage.

Day 6: Etave Cadavedo-Luarca (15,94 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 4h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

We will note a contrast between the middle coastal mountain and the valleys near the Marina, with the typical towns of this area of Asturias. The small difficulties of this stage will be the rise in Canero and the rise to Viewpoint of the Watchtower in Luarca.

The most significant of the stage is presented in the splendid village of Luarca, with its viewpoints, the fishing port, the Lighthouse, Cemetery (one of the most beautiful in Spain, for its location facing the sea), as well as numerous houses of Indianos

Day 7: Stage Luarca-A Charity (29 Kms)
Difficulty: Medium Duration: 7h 15m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Stage that runs through the Western Navy, with the Navia estuary, as the main focus of attraction. We will walk very close, or by the same N-634 in numerous Kms, with smooth slopes. Area that marks us, definitely, the Galician infujo in Asturias, by its proximity.

The most significant monuments to be found at this stage are: Palacio de los Campo Osorio in Piñera. In Navia: The Hermitage of San Roque, Medieval Wall and Casonas de Indianos. In Cartavio, the Parochial Church of Santa María (10th century)

Day 8: Stage A Caridad-Ribadeo (21.5 Kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 5h 15m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

The official route presents a very comfortable stage, away from population centers, or alternatively take the option, by an alternative route, to get closer to the coast and visit the beautiful town of Tapia de Casariego. In both cases, we will enter Ribadeo, crossing the bridge of the Saints, which saves the Eo estuary, giving name to the beautiful city.

In Ribadeo, in addition to the beautiful views of the estuary, with Castropol and Vegadeo on the other side of it, and if we have time, we should not miss the visit to the Beach of the Cathedrals, 10 Kms from the city.

The accommodations that we offer to our clients are from great quality and all rooms have a private bathroom, as well as the necessary services for your comfort. All establishments have been supervised and selected by Viajes Mundiplus, based on the satisfaction expressed by our customers over the years. On our routes, we never offer hostels.
