Camino Santiago on foot: Oporto-Tui

This route adds the attraction of walking in the neighboring country, in which stands out the great hospitality with which they receive us and the care of the establishments where we stay.

Beautiful cities such as Oporto, Barcelos, with its famous «Miracle Rooster», Ponte de Lima, with its spectacular medieval bridge and Valencia do Minho, border with Spain, at the foot of the Miño and balcony that overlooks Tui, are some of the most important routes.

The Camino is perfectly signposted with yellow arrows, just like in Spain.

Itinerary Portuguese Way from Porto (8 days-7 nights-6 stages)

Day 1: Arrival in Oporto. Accommodation.
Day 2: Stage Oporto-Arcos (15,60 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 4h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

From Oporto we will travel by car to Vilar do Pinheiro, due to the difficulty and danger of leaving Porto, due to the traffic.

Stage that passes through asphalt and mainly cobbled areas, punctuated by small areas of cultivation and indigenous trees.

We highlight the passage through Zameiro Bridge, one of the most beautiful bridges of the route, until entering, also by another bridge, in Arcos.

Arrival at Arcos. End of the stage. Accommodation.

Day 3: Stage Arcos-Barcelos (19.5 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 5h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Stage that runs through agricultural tracks, with cornfields and vineyards in its first Kms, in slight ascent, to then travel on asphalt tracks. and some cobbled areas. After Pedra Furada, we started the descent towards Barcelinhos and the beautiful Barcelos, where we entered through its medieval bridge.

Day 4: Stage Barcelos-Balugaes (17 kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 4h 15m

Stage that transits by asphalted areas mainly and with a strong rise until the Alto da Portela. Ponte das Taboas (XII century) is one of the most significant places of the stage, before reaching Balugaes.

Arrival to Baluages. End of the stage. Accommodation.

Day 5: Stage Balugaes-Ponte de Lima (16,6 Kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 4h 15m

From Balugaes, through rural landscapes and secondary roads, will take us in its first part to Alto da Albergaria, with a steep climb, to descend to the Lima river, which gives its name to the beautiful Ponte de Lima, one of the most beautiful cities in the north of Portugal, with a spectacular Roman bridge, its old town and the Lima River, as stamps of the city.

Day 6: Ponte de Lima-Rubiaes Stage (18.5 kms)
Difficulty: High Duration: 5h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

The stage reigns of the route, with a strong ascent from the beginning of the same, until reaching the Alto de Portela great for, from here, descend to our destination, Rubiaes.

It passes through mainly dirt tracks and areas of populated and lush vegetation, this part of the Camino being of great beauty.

Arrival at Rubiaes. End of the stage. Accommodation.

Day 7: Stage Rubiaes-Tui (19.96 Kms)
Difficulty: Low Duration: 5h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Stage that gives us beautiful landscapes, in a orography of constant ups and downs, land that "suggests" that we are at the gates of Galicia.

Much of the stage is done by the remains of a ancient Roman road, with many bridges.

Valenca do Minho, will be the prelude to our entry into Spain, through the Miño, to end in Tui.
