The Camino de Santiago from Oviedo to Lugo (Primitive Way) is the oldest and millennial pilgrim route. It was traveled by Alfonso II El Casto when he walked to Santiago de Compostela to recognize the remains of the Apostle. The complete journey connects Oviedo to Lugo and finally ends at the Cathedral of Santiago.

Primitive Way Itinerary from Oviedo (11 days-10 nights- 9 stages)

Day 1: Arrival in Oviedo. Accommodation.
Day 2: Oviedo-Grado stage (24,9 kms)
Difficulty: Easy Duration: 6h

Breakfast and start of the first stage of the Camino de Santiago from Oviedo.

DID YOU KNOW… the start of your Primitive Way in the city of Oviedo, represents “kilometer 0 of the Camino de Santiago”. Oviedo has the honor of being the first capital of the Camino!

We take the Cathedral of San Salvador de Oviedo as a starting point, to leave the city.

Stage that runs first on the slopes of Monte Naranco. We will walk on dirt tracks and paved road. Chestnut trees and large meadows will mark the route that the difficulty of the day will have on the ascent to Escamplero.

They emphasize the Casona de la Portalada, in Premoño, the Peñaflor Bridge and its Church.

In Grado, we highlight the Palacio de Valdecarzana.

Day 3: Stage Grade-Rooms (20 kms)
Difficulty: Easy Duration: 5h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

We are in Central Asturias, with a multitude of hills and hills and small villages.

We will find beautiful views, with plains and banks of the Cornellana and Salas rivers, with many rural houses, granaries and paneras. Area of ​​great Jacobean tradition, as it is the crossing of the interior route to the coast.

Salas, is a medieval town, with numerous well-preserved monuments, highlighting Torre de los Valdes and the Collegiate Church of Santa María la Mayor.

Day 4: Salas – Tineo Stage (19 kms)
Difficulty: Easy Duration: 5h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

We will alternate wooded areas at the beginning of the strong ascent to the Spine, with beautiful views of Tineo.

The stage runs close to the road and is Casonas area, water mills and ancient hermitages.

In Tineo, its old town, Palacio de Merás and the late medieval tower of the García palace.

Day 5: Stage Tineo-Pola de Allende (27,2 Kms)
Difficulty: High Duration: 7h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

More complicated stage in terms of orography. Forested areas abound and large meadows and valleys disappear.

You breathe tranquility and "loneliness" of the Way.

We highlight the Monastery of Santa María la Real, in Obona.

Day 6: Stage Pola de Allende – Berducedo (16,3 kms)
Difficulty: High Duration: 5h

Breakfast and start of the stage.

The most beautiful stage of our Camino, is also the most difficult, with the ascent to the port of El Palo, although the views are worth it.

We highlight the Chapel of Santiago, in Montefurado with its size of Santiago Apostol and in Berducedo, the church of Santa María.

Day 7: Stage Berducedo-Grandas de Salime (19,08 Kms)
Difficulty: Medium Duration: 4h 30m

Breakfast and start of the stage.

Spectacular views and mountainous terrain will mark this stage, having as witness the Navia river valley and the Grandas de Salime reservoir. A steep descent will take us to the final stage.

The Ethnographic Museum of Grandas de Salime and its Parish Church of San Salvador are a must-see.

Day 8: Stage Grandas de Salimes-Fonsagrada (26,8 Kms)
Difficulty: High Duration: 7h 30m

The climb to the port of Acebo, giving entry to the province of Lugo will be the difficulty of the day, although the climb is done smoothly.

Spectacular views with green mountains where silence and tranquility reign.

Day 9: Fonsagrada-Cadavo Baleira Stage (24,8)
Difficulty: Medium Duration: 6h 30m
Breakfast and start of the stage.

Stage with constant ups and downs, although already more smoothly, which runs very close to the road.

The Alto de Montouto, with an old hospital in ruins, will be the landmark of the day.

Day 10: Cadavo Baleira-Lugo Stage (30,2 Kms)
Difficulty: Easy Duration: 7h 30m
Breakfast and start of the stage.

Last climbs of our Way, to descend to the plains, through small parishes, tracks and roads that cross lush forests.

The entire Lugo old-fashioned helmet, with its fabulous wall, will compensate for the effort of the stage.
