STAGE BURGOS - HORNILLOS (21,41 Kms/13,30 Miles)

Difficulty: Easy   Approx. Duration: 5h 15'

Breakfast and Beginning of the journey.

Our first stage in Castilla, totally flat.

Extensive and solitary plains, which will help our "inner thoughts", if we wish. We will visit small towns with villages of great tradition and history in the Camino, such as Tardajos and Rabé de las Calzadas.

Arrival to Hornillos. End of the stage.

Day

STAGE HORNILLOS - CASTROJERIZ (20,33 Kms/12,63 Miles)

Difficulty: Easy   Approx. Duration: 5h

Breakfast and Beginning of the journey.

Stage similar to the previous one, presents no difficulty. The road is typical medieval.

We highlight the ruins of the Convent of San Antón, before reaching Castrojeriz, with its Gothic arches.

Castrojeriz is a monumental villa, where we can visit the old Collegiate Church of the Virgin of Manzano, Church of Santo Domingo and the Church of San Juan Bautista.

We entered in Tierra de Campos. As soon as we leave Castrojeriz, we come to Alto de Mostelares, in a steep climb.

A very attractive stage, where we will find the impressive Puente Fitero, on the Pisuerga river, the Gothic Chapel of San Nicolás, Boadilla del Camino, with its magnificent Jurisdictional Roll, and the Canal de Castilla, before the entrance to Fromista.

In Fromista, the impressive Church of San Martín de Fromista, jewel of the Romanesque, by itself, justifies this stage.

Day
5
STAGE FROMISTA - CARRION DE LOS CONDES (19,25 Kms/12 Miles)

Difficulty: Easy   Approx. Duration: 4h 30’

Breakfast and Beginning of the journey.

This stage is mainly due to a curious walk parallel to the road.

In Villalcazar de Sirga, its splendid Church of Santa María la Blanca (possible Templar origin) with the Chapel of Santiago, is the most important monument of this stage and one of the best of the French Way.

Arrival to Carrion de los Condes. End of the stage.

6
STAGE CARRION DE LOS CONDES - CALZADILLA DE LA CUEZA (17,38 Kms/10,79 Miles)

Difficulty: Easy   Approx. Duration: 4h 15’

Breakfast and Beginning of the journey.

One of the most solitary stages of the Camino, since, from its beginning, we will not pass through any locality, except for the old Abbey of Benevivere "Bien vivir"

Carrión de los Condes offers a visit to the Monastery of San Zoilo, Romanesque Church of Santiago, with its fabulous 22-figure front and the Church of Santa María del Camino.

Arrival to Calzadilla de la Cueza. End of the stage.

Terradillos de los Templarios and San Nicolas del Real Camino, are the main places of passage.

At the entrance of Sahagún, we find the jewel of the stage the Romanesque-Mudejar Ermita de la Virgen del Puente.

Sahagún gives us the magnificent Mudejar jewels like the Churches of San Lorenzo and San Tirso.

Day

Very similar to the previous stage, which runs very close to the road and dirt tracks, by the Royal French Way.

In Mansilla we emphasize the walls, that surround great part of the city.
